Watching Felicity so recently after a My So-Called Life rewatch I'm again amazed at how much Felicity Porter is like Angela Chase. The two characters have the introspective nature in common as well as a directness that I personally lack. You can even see it in their eyes, the way Claire Danes and Keri Russel play the characters. That hopeful, awkward moment when they talk to the objects of their obsession. The crushes, oh those crushes.
Maybe, as an awkward teen myself, I identify with these young woman more than I ought to. Perhaps it's because these are two of the better coming of age shows there are (though Felicity did have some shakey moments in later seasons). Maybe it's seeing an insecure girl caught between her nerdy twitterpated friend and the high school boy of her dreams. Or simply the voice overs by the lead female.
Though, if we can assume that Felicity is essentially My So-Called Life goes to college, then the most disturbing thing is that Brian Krakow would go on to rape someone in his Freshman year of college.
